Saturday Happy Hour in San Diego: Where It Actually Runs

James Williamson · Oct 12, 2026

Most happy hour lists in San Diego quietly assume you're going out on a Tuesday.

We track 393 bars in the city with a published happy hour. Only 152 of them run one on a Saturday. That's the whole problem — the deals thin out exactly when the city fills up.

It makes sense once you remember what a happy hour is for. It exists to fill a room that would otherwise be empty, and on Saturday the room fills itself. So most bars drop it. The ones that don't fall into three groups, and knowing which is which saves the night.

The ones that don't care what day it is

Saturday at the same price as a Wednesday. These are the finds.

La Puerta downtown — daily 3 to 5, half off appetizers, quesadillas and drinks. The highest-reviewed happy hour in the city that doesn't blink on a Saturday, and half off scales with whatever you order.

Gossip Grill in Hillcrest — daily 2 to 6, and the mechanic beats a discount: buy a drink, get a token toward the next. Four hours wide on a Saturday is close to unheard of.

KINDRED in East Village — happy hour during all open hours, every day. $5 wells, $5 herb puffs, $6 popcorn. There's no window to miss.

Crazee Burger in North Park — daily until 6PM, $5.99 drafts and $6.99 wine. A cutoff instead of a window, so an early Saturday just works.

McP's in Coronado and Bay Park Fish Company both run daily 3-to-6, and Davanti Enoteca in Little Italy does $8 spritzes, $7 house wine and $6 drafts on the same schedule. Jellyfish_ shows you which of them is already full — people check in while they're out, and that's what updates it.

The ones that move

Rustic Root downtown is the clearest case. Weekdays it's 5 to 6:30. Saturday it slides earlier, to 3 to 5. Walk in at 5 on the weekday schedule and you've missed it by an hour.

Blind Lady Ale House goes the other way and throws it open — Saturday 12 to 6, $6 beers. Six hours, the longest on this list.

Mister A's shrinks instead: Sunday to Thursday 4 to 6:30, but Friday and Saturday 5 to 6:30. That's what the view costs on a weekend.

And a few deals only exist on Saturday. South Beach Bar & Grille in Ocean Beach does $4 mimosas on Saturdays, part of a rotating daily lineup.

Two rules for the night

Be through the door by 4 or 5, not 6. The failure mode isn't picking the wrong bar. It's pulling up at 6:15 to a place that stopped at 6.

And pick the neighborhood before you pick the bar. A missed window is nothing if there are nine other options within four blocks. It's ruinous if there are none.

Before you get in the car

Saturday happy hour is the first thing a busy bar cuts. Treat this as a shortlist, not a promise.

The drive is the gamble. What I could never tell from the sidewalk was whether the small rooms were already full, and that's the part we built Jellyfish_ for. It's free on the App Store, and you're early.

Which of these is actually busy tonight?

A list tells you where to go. It can't tell you which of these is packed at 10:40 on a Friday, or which one already emptied out — that's the part Jellyfish_ is built for.
