Redwing Bar & Grill
Daily 3 to 6, and the prices read like a typo: $1.50 domestic drafts, $3 PBR, $5 domestic bottles, $5 half-apps. Nothing else in North Park is close on price. It's a neighborhood bar with a patio, karaoke, and theme nights, so the crowd swings hard depending on the day — mellow at 3:30 midweek, a different room entirely when karaoke is running. Seven days a week makes it the most reliable happy hour on this list, and the one to default to when nobody has a plan.
Cocina de Barrio North Park
Daily 3 to 5. Short window, good numbers: $5 barrio margaritas and bottled beer, $7 craft drafts. The patio is the reason to come, and at 4.7 stars it's one of the better-liked rooms in the neighborhood. Two hours goes quickly, so aim for 3 rather than 4:30 if you want more than one round. They also do brunch, which tells you they're used to a daytime crowd.
True North Tavern
Monday through Friday, 3 to 7 — four hours, tied for the longest weekday window here. $4 margaritas plus rotating drink and food specials, so ask what's running that day instead of assuming. It's a big room with a lot of TVs and a dance floor that gets used later. At 3:30 with two friends it's a sports bar; at 6:45 on a Friday it's the pregame for something louder. Both work, just know which one you signed up for.
If you want the longest window
Seven Grand San Diego
Four hours, daily, 4 to 8: $6 draughts and select whiskey, $8 classic cocktails. For a whiskey lounge with dark wood, live music, and a long bourbon list, an $8 classic cocktail until 8 p.m. is the best value in North Park. The trade-off is volume — the bar seats go first and the room gets loud enough that a four-top conversation takes work. Early in the week if you want to talk, weekend if you want the room at full tilt. Either way, 8 p.m. is a hard cutoff.
The Office Bar
Daily 4 to 7, half off all drinks. "All drinks" is rare and it's the whole pitch. Laid-back bar with an office theme that turns into a DJ-and-dancing room later, so happy hour is the calm version of the place. Three hours, every day, nothing to decode. Useful when you're moving with a group that can't agree on what it wants.
Working Class
Monday through Friday, 4 to 7: $4 draft beer and wine, $5 starters. This is where to go when happy hour needs to be dinner. Indoor-outdoor, comfort food, genuinely a locals' room. Two starters and a couple of beers lands under twenty dollars, which is the math that matters. The patio is where you want to sit and where everyone else wants to sit too, so arriving at 4:15 does more for your night than any drink price.
If you want the cheapest possible night
West Coast Tavern
Monday through Friday, 4 to 6: $3 wells, draft beer, and house wine, with $5 apps. Three-dollar wells are close to extinct in this neighborhood. It's a former movie theater, so the ceilings are high and the room can feel cavernous on a slow evening and pleasantly full on a busy one. Two hours, weekdays only — an after-work stop, not the whole night.
U-31
Sunday through Thursday, from open: $4 wells, $5 drafts. "From open" is the useful part; there's no cutoff to race. U-31 is a party bar with DJs and bottle service, plus sports on Sundays. Early in the week it's a reasonable place to drink cheaply; late on a Thursday it's a club. Friday and Saturday are excluded, which is at least honest.
Crazee Burger
Daily until 6: $5.99 drafts, $6.99 wine. The kangaroo and antelope patties are real, the setting is plain, and 2,254 reviews at 4.6 stars say the burgers hold up. The patio is the good seat. Because the window runs all afternoon, you can do a 2 p.m. burger and beer without watching the clock — the rare North Park happy hour that fits a day off.
If you're here for the beer and cider
TapRoom Beer Company
Monday through Friday, 3 to 6: $2 off drafts, wine, draft cocktails, and select apps. The draft cocktail discount is unusual and worth using. Warehouse-style brewpub with a big beer garden, which means it handles groups better than almost anywhere else here — if you're the one organizing eight people, start at this table. The garden is also the quieter half of the property.
Original 40 Brewing Company
Daily 4 to 6, $2 off select beers and wine. A tight two hours, but it runs every day, and at 4.7 stars this is one of the highest-rated breweries in the neighborhood. "Select" is doing some work in that description, so check what's discounted before you order a flight.
Bivouac Ciderworks
Daily 4 to 6: $6 full pours of draft cider, plus wine and food deals. Full pours, not halves, is the detail that makes it. The food is more ambitious than the taproom category suggests, there's a patio, and they do brunch on weekends. Good call when half your group doesn't want beer.
Belching Beaver Brewery North Park
Tuesday only, $5 pints. That's the entire deal and it's a good one. Dog-friendly tasting room, industrial-chic, no kitchen to build a night around — come for a couple of pints and move on. Tuesday is a quiet night in North Park generally, which is exactly why this one earns its spot.

Louisiana Purchase
Wednesday through Friday 4 to 6, and — the important part — Saturday and Sunday 3 to 5. Weekend happy hour barely exists around here. $7 cocktails plus discounted apps in a more polished room than anything else on this list, with a terrace. It's the pick for a date or for the out-of-town friend who wants to be impressed. Book a table for weekend evenings even if you're only planning on happy hour.
Coin-Op Game Room
Daily 5 to 7: $5 wells and drafts, $7 classic cocktails. The arcade is the draw and also the crowd problem — weekend nights, the room and the machines both get claimed fast. A weeknight visit is when you can drink at happy hour prices and still get on a game. Don't expect quiet at any hour.
Happy hours without published prices
A few North Park bars run happy hour but don't post the terms anywhere reliable. Live Wire is an old-school rock bar taking its taps and its jukebox seriously, with happy hours and occasional DJs. Pecs Bar is a relaxed gay bar with pool tables, a back patio, and happy hours of its own. Both are worth walking into — just ask the bartender what's discounted rather than showing up with a number in your head.
A few practical notes
Parking near 30th and University is the real cost of a North Park happy hour. Side streets south of University are the better bet, and after 5 on a Friday you're walking a few blocks regardless. Since most windows run two to three hours, the difference between showing up at 4 and 5:45 is one drink versus three.
