At midnight — the dives inherit the city. This is the hour the cocktail rooms thin and the no-pretense rooms fill. In Pacific Beach that means The Silver Fox Lounge; in Ocean Beach, the Newport Avenue stretch around Pacific Shores keeps its regulars late.
At 1 AM — you don't change venues, you finish where you are. Rooms stop letting people in before they stop serving, and the best move of the whole late night is being inside the right room before the door tightens.
The 2 AM plan
Everything empties onto the sidewalk at once, and every rideshare in the county gets summoned in the same ten minutes. Two moves beat the surge: walk a few blocks off the strip before requesting, or leave at 1:30 and keep the whole night's dignity intact.
