SDSU's real nightlife isn't on campus or even in the College Area — on weekends it migrates to Pacific Beach, where Garnet Avenue turns into the unofficial student union. The bars here run young, loud, and beach-casual. Typhoon Saloon is the college-bar classic; Bar West brings the DJ-and-dance-floor crowd; PB Shore Club runs the beachfront day-drink that rolls into night; and Open Bar is the cheap, packed, anything-goes dive everyone ends up at.
