Polite Provisions and Park & Rec fill first and hold longest; everything else runs steadier and quieter. Weeknights are the neighborhood's real character — Tuesday and Wednesday stay open and easy in a way North Park does not. Friday and Saturday peak around 9 to 11 and then hand the night over to 30th Street, which is a ten-minute walk east.

Where can you get a drink on Adams Avenue?
The western end, in University Heights, has the cocktail rooms and a couple of breweries. Keep going east and Adams becomes Normal Heights, which has its own set of dives and music rooms. The avenue changes character as you go — the map makes the seam obvious.
Does University Heights get busy?
The two anchor rooms do, on Friday and Saturday from about 9. The rest of the neighborhood rarely gets a line. If you want a good bar without planning around a wait, this is one of the more reliable pockets in the city.
Is it walkable from North Park or Hillcrest?
Yes, both — roughly ten minutes to 30th Street and about the same to University Avenue in Hillcrest. The mesa is flat, which is not true of every walk in this part of town.
